Making child healthcare transparent.

Digital baby book
The Challenge
For decades, we have educated parents about their child's health with the printed “Yellow Booklet“ in Germany. Now the goal was to embrace the opportunities of digital technology to ensure that all children, regardless of their socio-economic status or cultural background, have the same opportunities to be healthy and thrive.
The Solution
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the mykyds digital mobile platform was developed to provide access to a child's health and development data, making it easier for parents to keep track of their child's well-being. Pediatric practices also get more time to focus on urgent cases.
Access to information is a problem.
Parents want to take the best possible care of their child, but they are faced with countless responsibilities throughout the day, which makes it difficult to stay on top of important health information and checkups.
In addition, the information is often scattered between paperwork and electronic systems, and worded in complex ways, making it difficult to access and understand.
Parenthood is often mistakenly equated with motherhood. It is our responsibility to empower and enable all primary caregivers to care for their child to the best of their ability.
Interactive bites of short, digestible information
Parents struggle to understand what is important because there is so much information, and the technical lingo makes it difficult to understand. Many times, the result is overwhelm and confusion. Using visual and interactive methods, we strive to keep the information content to a minimum, making it more digestible and memorable for the user.
The goal was to provide parents with a platform where they can view all information in an easy-to-understand bundle, based on the child's developmental stage.
Learning with "mylo"
To help better remember information, the digital assistant "mylo" helps parents to practice their knowledge using mini quizzes without feeling like they are being tested.
Parents' digital baby book
Mykyds is a digital baby book that enables parents to store and access their child's most important health information at any time. Comprehensive, short articles reduce the time spent gathering information from other sources, while "mylo" makes learning information easier.
Especially parents with a migration background can benefit from a digital tool, as they can access all information in their native language.
Highlights & Capabilities
Extensive research with stakeholders.
We conducted extensive research with all relevant stakeholders in the healthcare system.
Pediatricians in practices and hospitals, health professionals from all related pediatric disciplines such as dentistry, nutritional sciences or psychology as well as key representatives from health insurance companies in Germany have contributed their expertise.
Collaborating within a consortium.
We developed mykyds in collaboration with all child health-related faculties of major German universities and hospitals as well as health insurance companies.
Within this consortium, we took the findings of our research and also the insights we gained from extensive interviews with expectant parents to create initial concepts and prototypes.
